Etchings

Known first as a printmaker, I continue to print all the time. It tends to keep me grounded. The process is seductive and I find that as time goes by, my images have become more adventurous and thought provoking.

I have spent the last fourteen years using the process of shellac etching and find it a very satisfying form of printing. It proves to be more subtle and instant than a metal plate. There is the added attraction of surprise every time the paper is lifted from the press. Below is a small selection of my prints.

The process

My technique is shrouded in secrecy, and has taken me over a decade to develop. This is then combined with influences of daily life, a focus on the whimsical, and the preciousness of every moment; to produce my prints. Oh, and a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
